Do you often travel by car? No, I don't have a car.
travelling、cars、going out、the city you live in
当校の出題情報を見ると、travelling、cars、going out、the city you live in など、別々のトピックとして出てきます。
Part 1
Do you enjoy travelling?
What is the last place you travelled to?
Do you prefer travelling alone or with others?
What do you usually pack when you travel?
Do you often travel by car?
Is having a car necessary where you live?
What kind of transportation do people mostly use in your city?
How often do you go out with your friends?
Where do people in your city usually go to enjoy themselves?
What do you usually pack when you travel?
What do you usually pack when you travel?
Not much, really. A change of clothes, a charger, and a book for the train. I try to travel with hand luggage only, because waiting at the baggage claim takes so long.
I usually take the train/We drove there/It's about two hours by car
I travel two or three times a year/I hardly ever go abroad
We stayed for three nights/We booked a hotel near the station
We walked around the old town/We ate at a small place near the river
感想:It was worth the trip/I'd go back tomorrow if I could
travel(動詞)
I don't travel much these days.
travel(不可算名詞)
Air travel has become much cheaper.
a trip
We went on a trip to Kyoto.
a journey
The journey took five hours.
a tour
We joined a guided tour of the castle.
✗
I went on a travel to Okinawa last summer.1回ぶんの旅行は a travel とは言わない
○
I went on a trip to Okinawa last summer.
○
I travelled to Okinawa last summer.
The journey took five hours.
go を使うなら go to になります。 なお、名詞の visit は a visit to Osaka のように to と組みます。
✗
I visited to Osaka with my family.visit のうしろに to は続かない
○
I visited Osaka with my family.
○
I went to Osaka with my family.go なら to が要る
by car と in my car と drive
✗
I go to work by my car every day.by
○
I drive to work every day.
○
I go to work in my car most days.
arrive と reach と get to
We arrived in Kyoto at noon.
We arrived at the station early.
We reached the summit at nine.
get to + 場所
We got to the hotel around six.
go abroad、travel overseas、study abroad
✗
I want to go to abroad next year.abroad の前に to は入らない
○
I want to go abroad next year.
○
I've never travelled overseas on my own.overseas
量を述べるなら heavy traffic や a lot of traffic、渋滞そのものを指すなら a traffic jam を使います。
There's always heavy traffic on that road in the morning.
Do you often travel by car? と Is having a car necessary where you live?
Not really. I don't own a car, and to be honest I don't need one. The train network where I live is good enough that a car would just sit outside most of the week.
Hardly ever. My parents have one, so I get a lift when we go somewhere as a family, but day to day I cycle or take the bus.
It depends where you live. In central Tokyo it isn't necessary at all, but my grandparents live in a rural area where there are only a few buses a day, so a car is essential there.
混み具合には段階があるので、busy、heavy traffic、stuck in a jam、bumper to bumper と使い分けると、描写がそのまま正確さになります。
△
The road was bumper to bumper, so we arrived ten minutes late.
○
The road was busier than usual, so we arrived ten minutes late.
○
It was bumper to bumper the whole way, and a two-hour drive took us four.
△
Kyoto is a hidden gem that everyone should see.
○
There's a small temple two stops before Kyoto that most visitors go straight past. It's a bit of a hidden gem.
What do you usually pack when you travel?
I try to travel light. One bag, and whatever doesn't fit stays at home.
I've learned to travel light, mainly because I hate waiting at the baggage claim.

What problems can tourism cause for people who live in a city?
Tourism brings money into the local economy, and in some towns it can be a major source of employment.
The difficulty is overtourism. When visitor numbers rise faster than the infrastructure can cope with, it's residents who feel it first.
I take the train to work.
Reliable public transport reduces the need for private car ownership.
There's always traffic on that road.
Congestion costs cities a great deal in lost working hours.
The centre was full of tourists.
Overtourism can push up rents and change what shops the centre is able to support.
Flights are cheaper than they used to be.
Budget airlines have made international travel possible for far more people.
My grandparents need a car.
People in rural areas depend on cars because bus services are limited.
I use a map app when I go somewhere new.
Navigation apps have changed how confident people feel in unfamiliar cities.
Not really, no. I don't own a car, mainly because I live near a station and the trains here run every few minutes. I take the train to work and cycle for anything closer. The only time I'm in a car is when my parents drive somewhere at the weekend and I go with them.
Not often. I don't own a car, because the trains here run every few minutes and I live five minutes from the station. We do use my father's car for family trips, though. We drove to Nagano in August, and we hit the road at five in the morning to get ahead of the holiday traffic, which worked until about the last twenty kilometres.
I went on a trip to Kyoto. a journey は移動そのものを指す語で、The journey took five hours.
I visited Osaka. か I went to Osaka.
by car と in my car はどう違いますか。
自分の車だと言いたいときは in my car の形にするか、drive という動詞を使って I drive to work. とします。歩いて行く場合も同じで、by walk ではなく on foot か walk there になります。
I don't own a car, and the train network where I live is good enough that I don't need one.
We got to the hotel around six.
go abroad、travel abroad、study abroad I've never travelled overseas on my own.
量を述べるなら heavy traffic や a lot of traffic、渋滞そのものを指すなら a traffic jam を使います。 We got stuck in a traffic jam for about an hour.
There's always traffic on that road.
旅と移動についての質問は、当校の出題情報では travelling、cars、going out、the city you live in などに分かれて出てきます。
