I was very quiet in the library, so I could concentrate.
○
It was very quiet in the library, so I could concentrate.
○
The library was quiet, and I felt calm for the first time that week.
Do you like to spend time by yourself?
✗
Yes, I enjoy being lonely at weekends.
○
Yes, I enjoy being on my own at weekends.一人でいる状態は on my own か alone
○
I lived alone for a year, and I did feel lonely at times.2
I felt calm/I was a bit on edge/I get overwhelmed in places like that
It was packed/The street was completely deserted/It's usually quiet in the mornings
I like having time on my own/I don't mind being alone/I'd rather not be on my own all day
I laugh a lot with my colleagues/I don't laugh much at that kind of humour
夢:I had a strange dream last night/I rarely remember my dreams
tell a joke、tell a story、tell a lie
✗
He said a funny joke at dinner.joke と組む動詞は say ではない
○
He told a funny joke at dinner.tell a joke の形
○
He made a joke about the weather.make a joke about も使える
What kind of comedy do you find funniest?
△
The party was very funny.
○
The party was really fun.
○
That's funny. It was working a minute ago.
How do you feel when you are in a very crowded place?
△
The café was packed like sardines, so I sat by the window.
○
The café was fairly busy, but I found a seat by the window.
○
On the morning train we're packed like sardines.
△
I go there to switch off.
○
I go there at weekends to switch off from work for a few hours.
What kinds of things make you laugh the most?
Mostly small things that go wrong. My friend dropped her whole lunch last week and we both burst out laughing.
My father cracks jokes constantly, and half of them aren't funny, which is what makes them funny.

Do many elderly people in your country live alone?
Living alone doesn't necessarily lead to loneliness, especially if people have strong social networks.
A certain amount of solitude seems to be good for people's wellbeing.
I don't like crowded trains.
Overcrowding on public transport affects people's stress levels.
It's hard to find a quiet place near my flat.
Noise pollution is one of the costs of living in a dense city.
I need time on my own after work.
People need solitude as much as they need social interaction.
My grandmother lives by herself.
Social isolation among older people is becoming a public health issue.
Everyone in my street knows each other.
How a neighbourhood is laid out shapes its sense of community.
I laugh at different things than my parents do.
What people find funny varies a great deal between generations and cultures.
It depends on the place, really. I'm fine in a lively market, because there's space to move. But on the train in the morning it's cramped and stuffy, and after about ten minutes I start to feel tense. I calm down as soon as I'm out on the street again.
It depends on the place. A lively market is fine, because there's room to move and the atmosphere is part of why I'm there. The morning train is another matter. We're packed like sardines, and by the time I get off I need a few minutes on my own before I can start work.
ここに be in high spirits や recharge my batteries まで重ねると、通勤の話が急に大きな話に聞こえます。
I enjoy being on my own. や I like being alone. で、I enjoy being lonely. I lived alone for a year, and I did feel lonely at times.
感じている人が主語なら -ed で I was bored.、感じさせるものが主語なら -ing で The film was boring. です。I was boring.
feel like のあとに to do は続けられますか。
I don't feel like going out tonight. I don't want to go out tonight.
I had a strange dream last night. I dreamt about my old school. She's always dreamed of working abroad.
He told a funny joke at dinner. make a joke about tell a joke、tell a story、tell a lie
The party was really fun. で、The party was very funny.
Where do you usually go when you want some peace and quiet?
